Chen Wang

Chen Wang is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in analytical development and bioprocess purification. Currently serving as Director and Volwiler Research Fellow at AbbVie since January 2013, Chen leads a 45-member analytical department responsible for biologics drug substance analytical development and manages a purification team of 30 scientists to support drug manufacturing. Previous roles include leadership positions in downstream process development, overseeing both clinical and commercial biologics, and driving innovation in process technologies. Chen's career began at Merck Millipore and Abbott, with a strong academic background holding a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University.
