Marissa St. John has extensive experience in special education, currently serving as the Preschool Principal and IEP Coordinator at Abilities First, Inc. since September 2018, while also working as a special education teacher for grades K-4. Previous roles include union president at Abilities First Employees Association, special education teacher at Dutchess BOCES, and various special education positions at the Children's Home of Kingston and Grove Street Academy Faculty Association. Marissa holds multiple degrees, including an Advanced Certificate in School Building Leadership from St. John's University, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Mercy University, and an Advanced Certificate in School District Leadership from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

ABILITIES FIRST Enriching the Lives of Children and Adults in Our Communities Founded in 1962, Abilities First is a not-for-profit organization serving the needs of the community, as well as those with developmental disabilities, from pre-school through adulthood. Abilities First has had a long-term commitment of providing a cohesive culture of compassion, empowerment and respect for people with a variety of disabilities through educational, vocational and habilitation services. It presently serves over 1,200 children and adults throughout the Hudson Valley region of New York State.
