Joao Reis

Joao Reis is a Machine Learning Engineer at Abnormal AI since November 2023, specializing in machine learning applications. Prior to this role, Joao served as a Senior Developer for Product Recommendations at Shopify from April 2022 to May 2023, where responsibilities included optimizing data pipelines using PySpark and developing a PyTorch-based prototype. Joao also worked as a Quantitative Analyst at TENOKONDO from November 2019 to February 2022, focusing on reinforcement learning and natural language processing for financial applications. Earlier experience includes an AI Team Intern position at Arabesque Asset Management in 2019, where Joao researched machine learning for stock price prediction, and a brief stint as a Teaching Assistant at UCL. Joao holds a PhD candidate status in Electronics and Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Data Science, both from UCL.
