Chuck Summers

Chuck Summers has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple decades. Chuck started their career in 1986 as a Developer at Ayres and Associates, where they coded embedded electronic survey instrument and GIS mapping applications. Chuck also provided training and support for AutoCAD and Intergraph CAD systems.

In 1990, Chuck joined Texas Instruments as a Developer and Technical Lead, where they led a team that created an industry-leading ASIC design and layout tools. After one year, the proprietary layout algorithm and GUI toolkit were sold to Mentor Graphics.

Chuck then worked at HP-Convex Computer Corporation from 1992 to 1996 as a Senior Developer, Architect, and Team Lead. Chuck led a team that developed a market-leading multi-threaded application profiler used for performance optimization.

From 1996 to 2010, Chuck worked at JDA-i2 Technologies as an Architect, Technical Lead, and OEM Contract Manager. Chuck was responsible for establishing and leading software development operations, tooling, and packaging. Chuck also managed technical alliance relationships with major system vendors.

At Kaplan Professional Education, Chuck served as a Senior Developer, Architect, Technical Lead, and Manager from 2010 to 2016. Chuck led a team that built the company's present ecommerce websites, generating approximately $100M in annual internet-driven retail and B2B sales. These websites offered online exam preparation and continuing education courses.

From 2016 to 2017, Chuck worked at Cerner Corporation as a Senior Developer. In 2017, they joined UnitedHealth Group as a Principal Software Engineer. In this role, they created various clinical tools and architected the data model for applications running on MySQL and MS SQL database servers. Chuck also modeled REST APIs using OpenAPI via Swagger tooling.

Chuck's most recent position, starting in 2021, is at About Objects as a Senior Software Engineer. Chuck implemented pathways to store and manage high-frequency patient generated health data from various devices into the VA medical system. Chuck also coded a real-time pathway for lab results integration.

Additionally, during their time at Southern Methodist University, Chuck worked as a Student Attorney in the Tax Clinic and served as a Research Assistant.

Overall, Chuck Summers has extensive experience in software development, architecture, and technical leadership across various industries, including healthcare, education, and technology.

Chuck Summers completed their JD degree in Law from SMU Dedman School of Law from 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they pursued a master's degree in Computer Science from Clemson University, which they completed from 1988 to 1990.
