Jon Butcher

Jon Butcher is a Senior Economist at Aberdeen, currently leading the economics research team at Wood Mackenzie, where they are responsible for global macroeconomic forecasts. They previously worked as a Principal Economist at Wood Mackenzie from 2009 to 2019 and held positions as a Senior Economist at Aramco from 2019 to 2022 and as an Economics Specialist at NEOM from 2022 to 2025. Jon began their career as a research analyst covering base metals at Macquarie Group from 2007 to 2009. They hold a Master of Science in Economics from Loughborough University and a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Studies from the University of Oxford.
