Cal Wheaton

Cal joined ABS Capital’s investment team in 2003 and has led or co-led more than seven investments, while supporting numerous others. Prior to joining ABS, Cal worked with growth companies as a vice president in Alex. Brown & Sons’ and Deutsche Bank’s Health Care Investment Banking Group where he was responsible for leading equity, debt, and M&A transactions. During this time, Cal garnered significant experience and developed deep domain knowledge of the healthcare industry and growth company dynamics, with a specific focus on healthcare information technology, tech-enabled outsourcing, and services business models. Before his time at Deutsche Bank and Alex. Brown & Sons, Cal worked at the investment firm of Kidder, Peabody & Co. in Municipal Finance.

Cal works in ABS's Baltimore office. Outside of his work at ABS, Cal is an investor in and advisor to several early-stage private companies, both within and outside the healthcare industry, including a premium craft brewery in Massachusetts. When not trying to keep up with his wife, three teenage daughters, and two dogs, Cal is also an avid gardener and outdoor enthusiast.
