Jonathan King

Jonathan King is a Senior AI Scientist at Absci, focusing on generative AI method development for antibody design since November 2023, following a role as AI Scientist II. From August 2017 to November 2023, Jonathan was a PhD Candidate at Carnegie Mellon University, where novel generative machine learning techniques for protein structure prediction were developed, alongside the creation of the SidechainNet open-source package. Jonathan also served as a PhD Candidate at the University of Pittsburgh within a joint Computational Biology program and gained experience as a Research Intern at Google, where work on Machine Learning Derived Phenotyping enhanced personalized medicine approaches. Previous roles include Biomedical Informatics Research Assistant at UCSF Medical Center, where machine learning algorithms were implemented to predict cardiac events, and Bioinformatics Intern at Plexxikon Inc., developing algorithms for detecting genetic variants in leukemia patients. Educational credentials include dual PhDs from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, and dual bachelor's degrees in Bioengineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
