Nicholas Meyer has worked in the software engineering industry since 2015. In 2015, they were a Summer Intern at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where they analyzed the effects of instrumental behaviors of the Planck satellite on data and sky maps from the mission through simulation. Nicholas also created python bindings for C implementation of simulation code for data analysis. In 2016, they were a Summer Intern (LIGO) at Caltech. In 2017, they returned to Caltech as a Summer Intern (LIGO) and evaluated regression methods and tuned hyperparameters to predict properties of merging binary black holes. Nicholas also delivered a proof of concept module demonstrating an improved fitting routine using Gaussian Processes and Decision Trees. In 2018, they joined Academia.edu as a Senior Software Engineer. As a member of the Site Reliability Engineering team, they ensured reliable and efficient operation of the site, as well as responded to incidents through on-call rotation. Theirprimary focus was optimization and modernization of the data layer, in particular their PostgreSQL databases.
Nicholas Meyer attended Caltech from 2014 to 2018, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
