Zak Buschbach

Senior Director, Analytics & Data Science at Academic Analytics

Zak Buschbach has a diverse work experience in data analysis and research. Zak started their career as a Data Analyst at Academic Analytics in March 2016 and later became a Senior Data Analyst in February 2019. In May 2020, they were promoted to Analytics Manager, where they led a team of data analysts and supported the development of custom analysis solutions for clients. In November 2022, they became the Director of Analytics and Data Governance at the same company.

Before working at Academic Analytics, Zak had experience in research and analysis roles at Occidental College. Zak worked as a Contract Research Analyst and an Institutional Research Analyst, where they conducted surveys, analyzed data, and created reports. Zak also served as a Student Representative to the Academic Affairs Committee and a Preceptor for Research Methods in Politics and Public Policy.

In 2012, Zak participated in the Campaign Semester program at Occidental College and worked for Elizabeth Warren's 2012 US Senate Campaign as a Deputy Volunteer Coordinator, GOTV Hotline Coordinator, and HQ Intern. Zak handled various responsibilities such as coordinating volunteers, running phonebanks and canvasses, overseeing volunteer operations, and managing the hotline and rides-to-the-polls program during the Get Out The Vote (GOTV) period.

Zak Buschbach completed their Bachelor of Arts - BA degree in Politics at Occidental College from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, they obtained various certifications, including "Leading and Managing People: Continuous Performance Improvement (1.1 CEU)" from the American Management Association in May 2022, "Management Training for New Managers (1.2 CEU)" from the same institution in May 2021, "Essentials of Tableau Server Administration" from Tableau in October 2018, and "SAS Programming 2: Data Manipulation Techniques" from SAS in April 2017.
