Sam Shetabi has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Sam started as a Development Researcher at Lion Television in 2011, where they developed their own cookery series concept and was responsible for shooting and editing taster tapes and casting videos. Sam then worked as a Development Researcher at Shed Media Group, where they developed fact-ent, features, and specialist factual ideas for various broadcasters. Sam also participated in casting contributors for a C4 documentary. Sam joined Renegade Pictures as a Casting Researcher, successfully finding eight potential contributors for a commissioned project.
In 2012, Sam worked at Nutopia as a Researcher for a National Geographic Channel series about the 1980s. Sam sourced precise information, conducted interviews, and found notable contributors. Sam was later promoted to Archive Researcher, responsible for sourcing and collating American 1980s archive footage.
Sam joined Maverick Television in 2013, starting as a Development Researcher and progressively becoming an Assistant Producer. Sam conducted independent research, wrote-up and cast for their own ideas, and established relationships with contributors. Sam joined the BBC in 2015, first as an Assistant Producer and then as a DV Director/Assistant Producer.
In 2015, Sam moved to Gleam Futures as a Content Producer and later became a Content Development Manager, overseeing creative IP development for UK digital talent and launching Gleam NewFronts and Gleam Podcasts.
From 2017 to 2018, Sam worked at BBC Studios Ltd as a Development Producer for Digital, responsible for developing non-scripted ideas with a digital focus and pitching to various platforms and commissioners.
Since 2018, Sam has been working at Acast as the Content Director for the UK and later also overseeing the Ireland content team. Sam sets and executes market strategies, leads the Acquisitions team, and focuses on growing the UK podcasting audience and expanding Acast's footprint in the market.
From 2008 to 2011, Sam Shetabi attended Bournemouth University where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in TV Production.
