Chip Baumgardner has extensive work experience in academia. Chip started as a Faculty Member at Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1994 and later became a Faculty Member at Susquehanna University from 1995 to 2014. Chip also worked as a Visiting Professor at various institutions including Gettysburg College from 1997 to 2004, Washington College in 2005, Dickinson College from 2007 to 2009, and the University of Wuerzburg in 2009. Additionally, Chip worked as a Faculty Member at New York University from 2005 to 2007. Chip has also held roles as a Project Specialist at Specialized Consultant Associates from 1998 and Business Program Accreditation Reviewer at ACBSP Global Business Programs from 2015.

Chip Baumgardner has a diverse education history that spans several years. In 1997, Chip obtained a Doctorate of Education in Business/economics from George Mason University. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Training and Development from Penn State University in 1989. In 1985, Chip obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in Business Administration and Management, General from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. In 1983, they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Economics from Penn State University.

In terms of additional certifications, Chip obtained a variety of qualifications. In 2023, they achieved Six Sigma Black Belt Certification - Level I from The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC). In 2022, they obtained REMOTE 2022: Maximizing Success for Learners certification from Badgr (now part of Instructure). In 2016, Chip earned an Innovation Engineering Black Belt certification from Eureka! Ranch. In 2008, they completed the Teaching Innovation Program offered by the American Economic Association. And in 2007, Chip obtained Teaching Leadership Certification from Terry Collee of Business, University of Georgia.

Furthermore, Chip acquired a Professional Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2017.
