Rafael Mateo

Rafael Mateo is an industrial engineer, graduate of Zaragoza’s Higher Technical College for Industrial Engineers. He has undertaken IESE’s General Management Program (PDG) and INSEAD’s Senior Management Program (PADE).

Mr Mateo joined ACCIONA Energy in 2010, where he is currently CEO.

Before joining ACCIONA, he worked for Endesa, fulfilling the role of General Manager of Endesa Chile and Director General of Endesa Latin America (2005-2009), Head of Production & Transmission at Endesa Chile (1999-2004), Director of Thermal Production at Endesa Generation (1997-1999) and Director of Endesa’s Teruel Thermal Power Station. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of the following companies: Endesa Costanera (Argentina), Hidroeléctrica Chocón (Argentina), EdeGel (Peru) and GasAtacama (Chile). He has also been a Board Member for the following companies: Endesa Brazil, Central Dock Sud (Argentina) (Argentina), HidroAysén S.A. (Chile) and GNL Quintero S.A. (Chile).
