Steven Root has a long and extensive work history in the weather and environmental industry. Steven started their career in 1979 as a Meteorologist at Beak Environmental Services, which later became Trinity Consultants. In this role, they were responsible for weather forecasting for various company projects.
In 1983, Root joined WeatherBank as the VP of Development & Marketing. Steven transformed the company by developing software to transmit weather data and products, moving it away from low-profit services. Steven eventually became the President & CEO of WeatherBank.
In 2015, WeatherBank was acquired by AccuWeather, and Root transitioned into the role of Chief Analytics Officer and SVP of Strategic Initiatives at AccuWeather. Their expertise and experience in the industry make him a valuable asset to the company.
Steven Root obtained a bachelor's degree in Meteorology from the University of Utah in 1976, followed by a master's degree in the same field from the same university in 1980. In 1982, they obtained the Certified Consulting Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society.
