John Ainley

John Ainley has a distinguished career as a Principal Research Fellow at ACER since August 1975, where notable achievements include directing three cycles of the Australian National Assessment Program in ICT Literacy and serving as the international coordinator for the IEA International Civic and Citizenship Education Study. Prior to this, John Ainley held the position of Deputy CEO (Research) at the Australian Council for Educational Research from January 1995 to July 2010, managing a large research division and overseeing numerous national and international projects. Additionally, as Associate Director and Head of the Policy Research Division at ACER, John Ainley directed significant national surveys focused on various educational issues. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Education, a Master of Education in International and Comparative Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, all from the University of Melbourne.
