Loyd Vest has held various roles in the software engineering industry since 1986. Loyd began their career in the US Navy as an Aeronautical Engineering Officer - Maintenance. After four years, they joined Electronic Data Systems in 1990 as a Systems Engineer, completing their three-year Systems Engineering Development Program. In 1993, Vest began working for MCI Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer, providing C, C++, PL/I, DB2, CICS, REXX, MOTIF, X-Windows, and Java development for MCI's Intelligent Call Routing products. That same year, they also joined the US Navy Reserve, retiring from the organization at the rank of Commander (O5) in 2021. In 1997, Vest joined Cisco Systems as a Sr. Software Engineer, providing Computer Telephony Integration development in the Cisco Advanced Services, Contact Center Custom Engineering group. Most recently, they have been a Senior .NET Software Developer at Aceyus since 2021.

Loyd Vest earned a BS in Computer Engineering from Colorado Technical University between 1995 and 1997. Prior to that, they earned a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Bluefield State University between 1982 and 1986. Loyd also attended Peterstown High School between 1979 and 1981. In 2009, they earned an MS in Computer Science from American Sentinel College. Loyd also holds a certification in ES2015: The Shape of JavaScript to Come from Code School.
