Robert Gaiser, MD, is a professor of anesthesiology and the core program director in the Department of Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine. His primary interest is obstetric anesthesiology. Dr. Gaiser is a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology, for which he serves as Secretary. He also serves on the 3C Committee of the American Board of Medical Specialties and is the Editor for the Anesthesiology section of Doody Enterprises and a member of the editorial board for Anesthesia & Analgesia, Obstetric Anesthesia Digest, and Journal of Clinical Anesthesia. Dr. Gaiser serves on the Committee on Professionalism and Committee for Fundamentals in Anesthesiology for the American Society of Anesthesiologists and on the Committee for Continuing Medical Education for the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is a private, non-profit, professional organization responsible for the accreditation of approximately 12,000 residency and fellowship programs and the approximately 865 institutions that sponsor these programs in the United States. Residency and fellowship programs educate approximately 145,000 resident and fellow physicians in 157 specialties and subspecialties. The ACGME’s mission is to improve health care and population health by assessing and enhancing the quality of resident and fellow physicians’ education through accreditation and education.
