This is an intergenerational program aimed to help elementary school students of Pinal County improve their reading skills by the end of the third grade. With help from older adults, students receive one on one tutoring in reading twice a week.
This program not only boosts the students confidence, allows them to have better skills in school but also helps them succeed down the road in their educational and professional careers.
All our volunteers are aged 45 and older. This provides opportunity for retired people, older adults or anyone from our older generations looking to find a purpose and give back. It also provides many physical and mental benefits to the volunteers involved.
As of 2024, this program has helped over 500 students in the Pinal County elementary system. School Year 23-24 alone showed 83% rate of students increasing at least one grade level and a 38% in students increase in at least two grade levels in their reading skills.
ACHIEVE Pinal Experience Corps aims to reach as many students as possible with the help of our dedicated volunteers. We continue to look for more volunteers so contact us and join at any time. We have options in positions, schedules and workplace. Become a virtual or in person reading tutor and help improve the lives of children.
