Mike Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Mike is currently the CEO of Aclymate, a company that focuses on providing an affordable and powerful solution for Net Zero living. Prior to their role at Aclymate, Mike worked at RenewWest as an Advisor and later as the Founder and Managing Partner. At RenewWest, they developed natural climate solutions, including the largest carbon-focused reforestation project in U.S. history.
Before their involvement in the environmental sector, Mike served in the US Navy. Mike'sroles included being an Individual Ready Reservist, Department Head of Third Fleet Air Operations Detachment Las Vegas, and Assistant Officer-in-Charge/Chief Mission Planner of the United States Sixth Fleet. Mike was recognized for their leadership skills and expertise in cruise missile process development, tactical acumen, and operational command and control.
Earlier in their naval career, Mike served as a Standardization Officer, Instructor Pilot, and Air Show Pilot for Strike Fighter Squadron 106. Mike also worked as a Division Officer, Naval Aviator, and Fighter Pilot for Strike Fighter Squadron 102. During their time with these squadrons, Mike led personnel in maintenance tasks and ensured the safety of personnel during aircraft carrier flight deck operations. Mike flew numerous hours of tactical flight time and carrier-arrested landings in support of U.S. objectives in the Western Pacific.
Mike started their professional journey as a Student Naval Aviator, honing their skills and preparing for their future roles in the US Navy.
Mike Smith attended the United States Naval Academy from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Systems Engineering. In addition to their formal education, Mike also obtained various certifications. In July 2005, they received their Commercial Instrument Pilot certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In May 2002, they obtained their Engineer-in-Training certification from the NCEES, specifically for the state of Maryland. Later, in April 2012, Mike became a Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument (CFII) through the FAA. Lastly, in July 2015, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
