Jake Farrell

Jake Farrell has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning multiple industries. Jake currently serves as the Senior Director of Engineering at Acquia since September 2019, where they previously held the roles of Director of Engineering, Principal Software Engineer & Manager, and Principal Software Engineer.

Prior to Acquia, Jake was involved with The Apache Software Foundation starting from April 2011. Jake held various positions including Vice President of Apache Thrift, Vice President of Apache Aurora, and Member of the Foundation. Jake primarily focused on project management for Apache Thrift, contributing to its release management and making the framework more accessible to users by publishing clients in native repositories.

Before their tenure with The Apache Software Foundation, Jake worked at ONEsite as the Chief Technology Officer from March 2012 to June 2013. In this role, they oversaw professional services, programming, operations, and platform architecture. Jake successfully transitioned the platform from a PHP-oriented design to a high available polyglot backend, improving scalability and reducing costs.

Jake also has experience as a Senior Software Engineer and product manager at ONEsite from May 2009 to March 2012. Jake designed a cross-domain Single Sign-On system, implemented centralized logging, and built data warehouses. Jake also created an internal job system to process and analyze large amounts of data.

Earlier in their career, Jake worked at Arigo as a Senior Software Engineer, responsible for creating sourcing systems for retail and apparel manufacturers. Jake also worked at Amperion as a Software Engineer, focusing on embedded systems software development, and at Dataworx Consulting Services as a Software Engineer, developing database-driven applications.

With their extensive background in engineering and management, Jake Farrell brings a strong skill set and a wealth of experience to their current role at Acquia.

From 2000 to 2004, Jake Farrell attended the University at Buffalo, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
