Act-for-the-Future is a U.S.-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded to equip Haiti’s youth with practical skills they can use for a lifetime. After the devastating 2010 earthquake, we began teaching sewing to teens in Gros-Morne, offering them more than just temporary relief, but a sustainable way to build their futures.

Grassroots Beginnings, Local Impact
Act-For-The-Future began as a small community initiative in Gros-Morne, Haiti, where local needs for vocational training were met with hands-on education. We provide space for teenagers and young adults to learn practical skills that are in high demand in the local economy—like tailoring.

Practical Training for Economic Independence
The skills our students gain in sewing and tailoring allow them to earn money that translates directly into opportunity—whether that’s putting food on the table, continuing their own education, or supporting their children or siblings in school.

Built for Long-Term Sustainability
Act-For-The-Future is led by Haitian instructors, a local director, and a community board in Haiti, and is supported by a 100% volunteer Board of Directors in the U.S. This lean, volunteer-driven model prioritizes long-term sustainability by empowering local leadership and keeping overhead low, so every donation directly supports the school and its students.
