Desmond Tan

Desmond Tan has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Desmond started their career as a First Lieutenant in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) from 1994 to 1995. Following this, they worked as a Software Engineer at AT&T from July 1999 to February 2000. Moving on, they joined Pervasive Software and held various positions such as Lead Software Developer from February 2000 to October 2005, Product Development and Support Manager from October 2005 to May 2008, and Director of Support and Sustaining Engineering from June 2008 to April 2014. Desmond then moved to Actian as a Principal Product Manager from April 2014 to October 2014, followed by a role as Director of Operations Support from October 2014 to March 2015. Desmond then served as the Senior Director of Product Engineering at Actian from April 2015 to January 2024. Currently, Desmond is the Vice President of Engineering at Actian, leading a team in developing Actian Zen, an edge data management product addressing the IoT market demand.

Desmond Tan attended The University of Texas at Austin from 1996 to 1999, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Science.
