Managing Director of Children’s Services at Action for Children

Dr Tim O’ Neill is the Managing Director of Children’s Services at Action for Children, from February 2021.

Previously, he was the Director of Education and Skills for Birmingham City Council from 2019, with responsibility for statutory children’s services (DCS) including commissioning responsibility for the country’s largest Children’s Trust including children’s social care (safeguarding, child protection, children in need and family support), fostering and adoption and youth offending services.

Tim has a doctorate in the History of Medicine from the University of Manchester. He has spent most of his career working with services for children and young people with local authorities across the Midlands, including at Rutland County Council as Director for People and Deputy Chief Executive, Nottingham City Council as Director of Family Community Teams and Northamptonshire County Council as Head of Extended Services to Children, Young People and Families.

Tim lives in Nottinghamshire with his two daughters.
