Skyler Lan has worked in the software engineering field since 2007. In that time, they have held positions at SinoCom Software Group Limited as a Software Engineer, Beijing Nine Star Technology Corp. Ltd. as a Senior Software Developer, Objectiva Software Solutions as a Senior Java Developer, Magik Ecommerce Limited as a Contract Developer, Exceed Online as a Senior Developer, and Moustache Republic as a Senior Developer and Co-founder. Currently, they are a Senior Software Engineer at Actionstep.

Skyler Lan attended Fuxin Senior High School from 1998 to 2001. Skyler then went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University (CN) from 2001 to 2006. In 2013, they obtained a Magento Certified Developer certification from Magento.
