Eric Toone

Eric Toone is a Managing Partner at Breakthrough Energy Ventures and serves as CTO of Breakthrough Energy. They hold the title of Professor of Chemistry (Emeritus) at Duke University, where they have previously been a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Vice Provost and Director of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Initiative. In addition to their academic roles, they worked as the Deputy Director and Chief Technical Officer at the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Research Programs Agency - Energy from 2010 to 2012. Eric is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science at the University of Guelph and the University of Toronto, respectively, while also working towards a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Toronto.
