Luisa Barrera, PhD, is an engineer with a passion for cleantech. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2023 to 2024, they developed novel electrochemical processes to recover nutrients from wastewater sludge and co-authored three publications. Their experience includes serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Michigan College of Engineering from 2017 to 2022, where they led collaborations in a DOE-funded center and patented a solar fuels device. Currently, they serve as Principal Scientist at Kaio Labs, developing AI and robotics platforms for catalyst discovery.
