Thomas Pounds

Thomas Pounds has worked in a variety of roles since 1988. Thomas began their career at the Boston Consulting Group as an Engagement Manager. In 1996, they served as Principal at 2300 Consulting, where they managed the Ohio State "Research Commission" to formulate and deliver a comprehensive research strategy for OSU. From 1998 to 2000, they were the VP Strategy & Business Development at Battelle Memorial Institute, where they managed a major corporate venturing initiative, spinning out ~15 start-ups from Battelle-managed DOE National Labs. Thomas was then CEO of Wave ID from 2000 to 2001, and VP Strategy and Corporate Development at Alien Technology from 2001 to 2007. In 2007, they became CEO of CalStar Products, a Silicon Valley start-up company focused on environmentally-friendly building materials. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Mentor/Independent Consultant at Lexington Consulting, helping MIT entrepreneurs with all aspects of early company formation and strategy. In 2015, they co-founded Yonward, Inc., a unique iPhone app platform that makes it easy and fast to associate content of all kinds with locations on a map. Finally, in 2017, they served as Publisher for the AIA Guide to Boston Architecture app, and in 2018 they became Chief Business Officer at ActivSignal, where they are applying the MPAD assay to early detection of pancreatic and other cancers.

Thomas Pounds attended Belmont Hill School from 1972 to 1978. Thomas then attended Princeton University from 1978 to 1982, where they earned a MS in Engineering and Architecture. Thomas subsequently attended MIT Sloan School of Management from 1986 to 1988, where they earned a MS in Management.
