Tucker Taft

QGen Senior Advisor; VP & Director of Language Research at AdaCore

Tucker Taft has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Tucker is currently the President of ACM SIGAda, a position they have held since July 2021. Prior to this, Tucker had an extensive tenure at AdaCore, starting in 2011, where they served as the QGen Senior Advisor and later as the VP & Director of Language Research. At AdaCore, they focused on the development of the QGen Model-Based Development Product Line, which involved generating code from Simulink/Stateflow models for aerospace and automotive applications.

Before joining AdaCore, Tucker was involved in the design of the ParaSail Programming Language, a parallel specification and implementation language that emphasized compile-time checking and region-based storage management. Tucker's design work on ParaSail began in 2009.

Throughout their career, Tucker has also been an active member of various organizations. Since 1995, they have been a member of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG9. Tucker is also highly involved in education, having served as a board member and later as the President of the Lexington Montessori School board starting in June 2014.

In terms of entrepreneurship, Tucker founded SofCheck, Inc. in 2002. As the Founder/Chairman/CTO, they focused on automated testing and debugging of software through static analysis. Before that, they served as the Chief Technology Officer at AverCom, Inc. from 1999 to 2002.

Tucker's earlier career includes positions at Averstar, L-3 Titan (formerly AverStar/Intermetrics), and Intermetrics, where they held the role of Chief Scientist. Tucker was with these companies from 1995 to 2000. Finally, Tucker began their career at Intermetrics in 1980 and remained in the role of Chief Scientist until 1996.

Tucker Taft attended Hawken School from 1963 to 1970 and obtained a High School Diploma. Tucker then enrolled at Harvard University from 1971 to 1975, where they earned a degree in Chemistry.
