Adarsh Sewa Samiti (ADARSH) is a non-profit development organization established in 1978, dedicated to serving the urban and rural poor across India. ADARSH focuses on pro-poor policy advocacy by engaging in research, on-ground implementation projects, and the development of information systems. The organization’s mission is to improve access to essential services such as health, sanitation, education, sustainable agriculture, clean water, and livelihoods—especially for women, youth, and marginalized communities.

Employing a participatory and inclusive approach, ADARSH works with skilled field animators using community mobilization techniques like participatory learning, resource mapping, and focus group discussions. Over its four-decade journey, ADARSH has impacted slums in Delhi and expanded its activities into rural areas of states such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, with further initiatives planned in other regions.

Key thematic areas include health and hygiene, urban planning, waste management, women’s empowerment, child rights, natural resource management, and skill development. The organization is recognized for its effective collaborations with government departments, other NGOs, and international partners to foster self-sustaining, community-led development. ADARSH operates with a core belief in transparency, gender equality, scientific and sustainable development, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups, striving toward a more equitable India where every citizen can access essential services and live with dignity.
