Roy Popiolek has accumulated various work experiences throughout their career. In 2001, they founded LiveMap GmbH in Berlin, Germany. From 2005, they worked as a Reviewer, GIS consultant, and project advisor for the European Commission. In 2012, they were involved with Broadbandatlas.eu, which aimed to improve broadband internet availability. Roy also worked as a Web Development Project Manager at the University of Applied Sciences - Konstanz starting in 2016. In 2016, they co-founded E2MS - Earth Energy Monitoring System, where they focused on measuring and monitoring the Earth's energy. From 2018, they held positions at cloudeo AG, Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, and adele:systems gmbh, where they worked as a cloudeo expert partner, an expert in mobility and tracking, and as the Chief Technology Officer, respectively. Their most recent position was as a GIS Specialist at DB Systel, where they worked on a project called TracE, which involved real-time asset tracking.
Roy Popiolek has an educational history that includes a research scholarship in Geoinformatics and Webmapping at Freie Universität Berlin from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Geoinformatics from the same university from 1990 to 1997. Roy also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Universität Greifswald from 1988 to 1990. Roy Popiolek also holds a certification as a company providing vocational training from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Germany, which was obtained in 2004.
