Matthew O'Connor has a diverse work experience. Matthew co-founded AdQuick in 2016, which is an online platform for purchasing out-of-home advertising and developing software to measure its impact. Prior to that, they worked at Amazon as a Senior Program Manager for Flex. From 2014 to 2016, they held multiple roles at Instacart, including Expansion Manager and City Launcher. Matthew also founded and directed Bike to the Beach from 2010 to 2014, a charity event. In addition, they founded Footprint Free in 2010, a company focused on sustainability. Matthew worked as the Director of Operations at The Millennial Trains Project in 2013 and as a paralegal at Constantine Cannon from 2008 to 2011.

Matthew O'Connor completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame in the years 2003 to 2007. Matthew then pursued further studies at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where they obtained their MBA degree from 2011 to 2013. Before their undergraduate studies, Matthew attended Georgetown Preparatory School from 1999 to 2003 for their high school education. Additionally, they had a brief educational experience in 2006 at Université de Bourgogne.
