Robert Clancy has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Robert began their career in the US Army as a Sergeant and worked as a Heavy Ship Mechanic and Crew Chief. Robert then joined Petroleum Helicopters as a Heavy Ship Mechanic before transitioning to Lockheed Martin, where they served as a Program Manager for over two decades. In this role, they implemented Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve performance. Clancy also held leadership positions at SRCTec, Inc and Advanced Automation Corporation, where they worked as a Program Manager and later became the Chief Operating Officer. Additionally, they served as the Past President of the Plank Road Chamber of Commerce, overseeing its operations.

Robert Clancy obtained their Regents degree in Math/Science from Cicero High School between 1974 and 1978. Robert then pursued further education and earned an Associate's Degree in Engineering Science from Onondaga Community College, which they completed between 1985 and 1994.
