James Smith

James Smith, Ph.D., is currently a Member of the Technical Staff at AMD, where they work on open-source C++ software for AI and Data Science. Previously, they served as a Senior Research Engineer at Qognitive, developing numerical methods for machine learning and quantum computing. Prior to that, they contributed to Lucata as a Member of the Technical Staff, focusing on porting the GraphBLAS library to custom hardware. James has also held academic positions, including a Flatiron Research Fellowship at the Simons Foundation and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder, where they specialized in Chemical Physics.
