Michael Rowan is a Senior Member of Technical Staff at AMD, where responsibilities include application performance optimization for the exascale supercomputer El Capitan since July 2021. Prior to this role, Michael served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Berkeley Lab from September 2019 to July 2021, focusing on the performance optimization of the particle-in-cell code WarpX for GPU and CPU platforms, notably improving load balancing and achieving significant performance enhancements. Michael holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Physics from Harvard University (2013-2019) and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics and Mathematics from Oberlin College (2009-2013).
