John Powers

John Powers is currently the Legal Director at the Advancement Project and serves as an Adjunct Professor at both Howard University School of Law and American University Washington College of Law. Previously, John worked as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice and held positions as Associate Counsel and Counsel at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights. John earned a Bachelor's degree in History from Haverford College and a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Georgetown University Law Center.
