James Ruddock has a diverse work experience spanning various senior roles in finance, operations, and management. James started their career as a Senior Tax Consultant at PwC in 1997 and then worked as a Management Accountant at Merrill Lynch in 2000. From 2002 to 2012, they held various positions at Dun & Bradstreet, including Finance & Planning Manager, Commercial Director, and ultimately, Chief Operating Officer.

In 2012, Ruddock joined Property Exchange Australia Ltd (PEXA) and played a significant role in the company's growth and success. James served as the Chief Financial Officer from 2012 to 2016, during which they contributed to PEXA's financial and corporate services. James then became the Group Executive - Finance & Corporate Services, where they formulated and implemented strategies that led to PEXA's turnover exceeding $100m in five years. Ruddock also played a crucial role in the successful dual-track process that resulted in PEXA's sale for $1.6bn in January 2019.

From 2019 to 2022, Ruddock held leadership roles at PEXA as the Group Executive - Exchange and then as the Chief Product & Digital Experience Officer. In these positions, they oversaw the development and evolution of the PEXA platform, achieved significant transaction growth, and led the establishment of PEXA Insights. James managed teams comprising over 150 employees and contractors, and maintained high employee engagement scores throughout their tenure.

Currently, James Ruddock is the Chief Financial Officer at aecc, starting in 2022. James took a sabbatical in 2022 before assuming this role.

James Ruddock attended The Peninsula School from 1986 to 1991. James then studied at Monash University from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (with Honours). In 1997 to 2000, James attended the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia. In 2013, they completed a program at the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Finally, in 2017, James attended Harvard Business School for a program on Authentic Leadership.
