Jim McCafferty

Jim McCafferty is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in decommissioning and site restoration within the nuclear sector. Currently serving as the Director of Decommissioning and Site Restoration at AECL since February 2012, Jim oversees a $3 billion portion of a $7 billion liability reduction program for the Canadian government, including management of the Port Hope Area Initiative and environmental remediation at Chalk River. Previously, Jim held various strategic and managerial roles at DSRL, contributing to the successful decommissioning of the Dounreay Site, as well as serving in a senior design role at Rolls Royce. Jim's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA in Business Administration, and a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering, all contributing to a robust skill set in both technical and managerial domains.
