Jr Burpee

JR (Jim) Burpee is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as the Chair of the Board of Directors and a member of the Board of Directors at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited since July 2017, Burpee also chairs the Human Resources and Governance Committee. Previously, Burpee was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Electricity Association from February 2012 to February 2015, enhancing the organization's role as the authoritative voice for electricity in Canada. As Chief Executive Officer at Bridge Renewable Energy Technologies from March 2009 to November 2011, Burpee advanced biomass gasification technologies for off-grid applications. Burpee's career at Ontario Hydro/Ontario Power Generation spanned over three decades, where various senior executive roles were held, including management of the Fossil Business Unit and involvement in the demerger of Ontario Hydro. Burpee holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto, obtained between 1973 and 1977.
