Brian Smart is an award-winning Transportation Planning Manager for AECOM, currently serving as Associate Vice President and Southeast Sub-Region Transit Lead in Atlanta, Georgia. Recognized as a "Top 40 under 40," Brian leads a team of planning professionals and oversees the Georgia Transportation Business Line. They successfully managed the decade-long Georgia Department of Transportation’s Atlanta to Chattanooga High Speed Ground Transportation project, achieving the first combined Tier 1 Final Environmental Impact Statement/Record of Decision from the Federal Railroad Administration. Prior to their role at AECOM, Brian served as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the Federal Transit Administration, where they contributed significantly to NEPA compliance and developed training modules now used nationwide.
