Matthew Bettelheim

Matthew Bettelheim is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and freelance science writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently serving as a Senior Wildlife Biologist at AECOM, they have over 20 years of experience in environmental consulting with a specialization in herpetology. Matthew holds a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Recovery Permit and has been a key researcher in the North Bay Western Pond Turtle Project since 2003. They have also contributed to various publications and published an illustrated children’s book in 2013 about the Lange's metalmark butterfly. Matthew's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution from the University of California, San Diego.
