Cheng Tan currently serves as a Principal Engineer at the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) since January 2024. Prior to this role, Cheng worked as a Senior Power Systems Engineer at Hatch from January 2021 to January 2024, leading grid connection applications for hybrid generators and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Cheng's experience also includes a position as a Power Systems Engineer at APD Global from March 2020 to January 2021, where responsibilities included conducting grid connection studies and preparing technical documents for grid connection applications. Earlier positions include an Electrical Engineer role at UNSW and a tenure at PTH Global Pty Ltd. Cheng holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering from UNSW and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Zhejiang University.
