Aero Shield UAS Services is developing the first managed drone swarm service purpose-built for wildfire ignition arrest — intervening on nascent fires at the moment they are smallest, most contained, and most stoppable.

We operate upstream of traditional aerial firefighting. Where conventional air assets respond to established fires, Aero Shield deploys before escalation — targeting wildland ignitions of 100 square feet or less, lightning-initiated smolders, and electric utility corridor fire emissions at the source.

Our Gen-1 system pairs a four-drone human-supervised suppression swarm with a dedicated overwatch drone providing continuous thermal and electro-optical feeds throughout every engagement. A single human authorization opens the engagement window. The swarm cycles autonomously within that window. The human supervisor remains active — watching fire behavior, environmental conditions, and swarm operations simultaneously — with authority to abort at any moment across five defined trigger conditions.

Customers contract for availability, coverage, and defined risk-reduction outcomes. Aero Shield assumes full operational, regulatory, and safety responsibility.

We are a pre-revenue R&D stage company pursuing NSF SBIR Phase I funding and initial pilot partnerships with fire agencies and electric utilities in the Pacific Northwest. Our platform is being designed to Blue UAS and NDAA-compliant standards from the ground up.

Founded by James Jones (Founder & Principal Investigator) and Ira Astrachan (VP Operations & Co-Investigator), Aero Shield brings together wildland fire operations experience, aerospace engineering, and decades of professional aviation into a single mission: stop the fire before it needs stopping.
