Chantel Lapins is a Generation Modeling Engineer at The AES Corporation since May 2024, responsible for preparing and submitting generator models for renewable resource interconnection requests and ensuring compliance with Transmission Planner and Planning Coordinator expectations. Prior to this role, Chantel served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Design, Automation, Robotics, and Control Lab from August 2019 to April 2024, where motion planning algorithms were developed for estimating chemical leaks and buried avalanche victims, and a chemical release system for methane leaks was automated. Previous experience includes working as a Mathematics Teaching Assistant at the University of Utah College of Science, a Research Assistant in the Laboratory of Head Injury and Vessel Biomechanics, and a Summer Conference Coordinator at the University Guest House. Chantel holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah John and Marcia Price College of Engineering.
