Marcelo Icardo

Marcelo Icardo is a seasoned procurement professional with extensive experience in global sourcing and supply chain management. As the Global Sourcing Manager at The AES Corporation since August 2018, Marcelo leads a team of over 35 sourcing professionals, managing an annual spend of $1 billion while achieving significant savings in Thermal & Renewable Energy sectors. In addition to this role, Marcelo serves as an Ambassador for The Sustainable Procurement Pledge, promoting sustainable practices across the procurement landscape. Prior positions include Regional Procurement Manager at Wartsila, where Marcelo transformed the sourcing function for a $700 million annual spend, and Head of Procurement at Mirgor, where a best-in-class sourcing process was implemented. Marcelo's earlier experiences include senior roles in procurement with Nestle Waters, BIOSIDUS, and Koh-i-Noor. Marcelo holds an MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, an MA in Economics, and a BS in International Business.
