Thomas Stimson

Thomas Stimson has extensive experience in the field of ethics and compliance. From 2012 to present, they have been the Vice President and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at The AES Corporation, where they are responsible for managing and implementing the company's worldwide Ethics and Compliance Program. Prior to this role, from 2012 to 2016, they served as the Managing Director of Ethics & Compliance at the same company. During this time, they oversaw internal investigations and managed compliance training programs.

Before joining The AES Corporation, Stimson worked as a Special Counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP from 2002 to 2012. In this role, they represented corporations and individuals in various white-collar criminal and complex litigation matters. Thomas also gained experience in managing and conducting independent internal investigations in different international jurisdictions, specifically in emerging markets.

Stimson began their legal career as an Associate at Winston & Strawn LLP from 1998 to 2002.

Thomas Stimson obtained their Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Iowa State University in 1995. Thomas then pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Virginia School of Law, which they earned in 1998. In 2017, they completed an Executive Education Certificate in AES Global Executive Leadership Retreat from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
