Jonathan Symonds

Jonathan is the senior independent non-executive director of HSBC Holdings plc, chairman of HSBC Bank plc, and chairman of HSBC Holdings’ Group Audit Committee. He also sits on the Group Risk Committee.

Jonathan is also chairman of Proteus Digital Health and a non-executive director of Genomics England. Along with his wife, Sue, he is a trustee of the Jinja Educational Trust, which aims to improve the education, training, and welfare of young people in Uganda. Jonathan was CFO of Novartis AG from 2009 to 2013. Prior to joining Novartis, Jonathan was a partner and managing director of Goldman Sachs, CFO of AstraZeneca plc, and a partner of KPMG. Jonathan’s governance experience includes serving as a non-executive director and chair of the audit committees of Diageo plc and Qinetiq plc.
