Katja Soini has a diverse work experience in various industries. Katja is currently working at AFRY as the Strategy and Sustainability Director, where they are responsible for driving innovation and promoting sustainability in the built environment. Prior to this role, they held the position of Senior Advisor at AFRY.
Katja has also served as the President of Ornamo Art and Design Finland and as a Board Member at Design Museum, Helsinki. At Innolink, they worked as the Chief Growth Officer, focusing on facilitating growth and connecting opportunities.
Before joining Innolink, Katja was the Director, Head of Service Design at AFRY Infrastructure Finland. Katja also worked at Vahanen-yhtiöt as the Design Director and Development Manager.
Their academic background includes roles such as Academic Collaboration Manager at Aalto University and Project Manager in various research projects related to urban planning and design.
Early in their career, Katja worked as a TV journalist at Finnish Construction Communications and as a Project Manager at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, Future Home Institute.
Throughout their career, Katja has gained extensive experience in strategy, sustainability, design, growth, and urban planning.
Katja Soini has a strong educational background in design. Katja obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design from Taideteollinen korkeakoulu - Konstindustriella högskolan in 2001, followed by a Master of Arts in Design from the same institution in 2003. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Arts degree in Design at Aalto University, which they successfully completed in 2015. In addition to their academic achievements, Katja has obtained certification in Business Sustainability Management from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
