Simo Väänänen is currently the Head of BU Hydro in Finland at AFRY, a role they have held since 2018. They previously worked as a Project Manager and Section Manager in Hydro Power at ÅF from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, Simo managed hydro power projects as a Project Manager and Design Engineer at Oy Vesirakentaja from 2005 to 2012. Simo's early career included a position as a Design Engineer Trainee at the Regional Environment Centre of Uusimaa from 2004 to 2005. They earned a Master’s Degree in Water and Environmental Engineering from Aalto University (2012-2015) and an Engineer's Degree in Environmental Technology from Lahti University of Applied Sciences (2001-2005).
