Simon Bloomer has over 25 years of experience in data architecture and data modeling. Simon began their career as an Oceanographer, conducting research on the influence of environmental factors on pelagic fish resources. Simon Bloomer's education history includes several degrees and certifications. In 1989 to 1991, they attended the University of Cape Town and obtained a BSc degree in Zoology and Botany. In 1992, they earned an Honours degree in Marine Biology from the same university. In 2001, they obtained a Diploma in Systems Analysis and Design from the Faculty Training Institute. In 2002, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Information Systems at the University of Cape Town. Finally, in 2003, they obtained a BCom (Hons) degree in Information Systems, also from the University of Cape Town. Simon Bloomer also holds several certifications including Certified Data Management Professional from Dama International in 2023, Teradata 14 Certified Professional from Teradata in 2013, and Teradata Master V2R5 from Teradata in 2006.
