Simon Bloomer

Simon Bloomer has over 25 years of experience in data architecture and data modeling. Simon is currently working at Ageas UK as a Team Lead for Data Modeling, where they manage and coordinates a team of 6 members. Their role involves delivering data models in Erwin for an Azure Databricks Data Lake and Snowflake Lakehouse. Prior to Ageas UK, Simon worked at Medscheme (Mtius) Limited as a Snr Specialist in Data Architecture, where they were responsible for designing and implementing the BI data architecture. Simon also developed the Enterprise BI Reference Architecture for the company. Simon has also worked as a Data Architect at Bytes Universal Systems, where they designed and developed data architecture roadmaps for various clients. Additionally, they have experience as an IT Business Analyst at MWEB, where they assessed business intelligence requirements and led the development of an Enterprise Data Warehouse. Simon's early experience includes roles as a Solutions Consultant in Business Intelligence and a Senior Support Engineer, where they worked on Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse implementations and provided support for large systems. Simon began their career as an Oceanographer, conducting research on the influence of environmental factors on pelagic fish resources. Overall, Simon has a strong background in data architecture, data modeling, and business intelligence.

Simon Bloomer's education history includes several degrees and certifications. In 1989 to 1991, they attended the University of Cape Town and obtained a BSc degree in Zoology and Botany. In 1992, they earned an Honours degree in Marine Biology from the same university. In 2001, they obtained a Diploma in Systems Analysis and Design from the Faculty Training Institute. In 2002, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Information Systems at the University of Cape Town. Finally, in 2003, they obtained a BCom (Hons) degree in Information Systems, also from the University of Cape Town. Simon Bloomer also holds several certifications including Certified Data Management Professional from Dama International in 2023, Teradata 14 Certified Professional from Teradata in 2013, and Teradata Master V2R5 from Teradata in 2006.
