The Agentic Internet Workshop (AIW) is where the people building the identity, trust, authorization, and communication layers for AI agents come together to advance the field.

AI agents are becoming first-class actors on the internet. New protocols for how agents connect to people, organizations, services, and each other are emerging across multiple standards bodies and open-source communities — IETF, W3C, OpenID Foundation, DIF, Trust Over IP, the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation, and many more. Protocols like MCP, A2A, ANP, and AITP are being developed in parallel, alongside critical work on agent identity, discovery, delegated authorization, and governance.

These communities are all working on pieces of the same puzzle — but they don't always talk to each other. AIW exists to be the coherent, neutral field where they come together.

AIW uses Open Space Technology — the same unconference format that made the Internet Identity Workshop (IIW) successful for over 20 years. No keynotes, no vendor pitches, no pre-set agenda. Participants create the agenda together the morning of the event. The conversations are driven by the people doing the work.

IIW is where OpenID Connect and OAuth were incubated — protocols now used between 10 and 15 billion times a day. AIW carries that legacy forward into the agentic internet.

AIW is more than a one-day event — it's a growing community. Our community conveners help shape each workshop and activate the community between events: Mike Prince, Ken Adler, Sarah Cecchetti, and Clawdrey Hepburn (our AI Agent ambassador).

Founded by Andor Kesselman, Phil Windley, and Kaliya Young. Hosted by the IIW Foundation. Held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.
