Ahimsa has been working to end domestic abuse since 1990. We are one of a small number of Respect-accredited organisations in England, meaning our work meets rigorous national standards for safety, quality, & victim-centred practice. 

What makes Ahimsa different is our integrated model. We work simultaneously with people who cause harm in their relationships and with their partners & families. We believe that compassion and accountability can co-exist - understanding why someone causes harm does not make it acceptable, and holding people accountable while approaching them with humanity is how real change happens. 

Victim/survivors are at the heart of everything we do. All our work is centred on keeping them safer - and our Partner Service ensures that those affected are never left without support.

We also believe in getting upstream. Domestic abuse will not end unless we address it at its source. Without intervention, people who cause harm can move from one victim to the next. Our work - including our Youth Service - aims to break that cycle before it causes more harm, and before it passes to the next generation.

Our services:

Ahimsa Youth Service - prevention-focused work with young people (16-25) displaying harmful behaviour, with Healthy Relationship Advocates working relationally, flexibly, alongside support for partners, parents, and families.

Integrated Domestic Abuse Programme — 30 weeks of one-to-one and group work for adults, with integrated support for partners and ex-partners for up to 18 months.

Partner Service - the offer of integrated support for current and ex-partners (where children are involved) of everyone we work with, for up to 18 months. This is central to our model and central to victim safeguarding.

Intensive case management - for the highest-risk cases, delivered in close coordination with police, probation, and statutory partners, with parallel IDVA support.
